Hernandez, Wondolowski have successful surgeries

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced that defender Jason Hernandez and forward Chris Wondolowski underwent successful surgeries. Hernandez had surgery to repair a torn deltoid ligament in his left ankle, while Wondolowski had surgery to repair a torn lateral collateral ligament in his right knee. Earthquakes team orthopedist Dr. Mike Oberlander performed both surgeries at the Sequoia Surgical Pavilion.

Hernandez suffered the ankle injury in the Quakes match against Toronto FC at BMO Field on Oct. 10. He will miss the Quakes remaining two matches but is expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2010 season. Hernandez appeared in 16 matches this season for the Earthquakes.

Wondolowski suffered his injury against Toronto FC as well, tearing his lateral collateral ligament. He is also out for the final two matches of the season but is expected to be ready for the start of the 2010 season. He played 14 games for San Jose, scoring three goals and notching one assist.
