MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER QUOTESHEET
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2009 -- CHIVAS USA 2, SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES 2

CHIVAS USA HEAD COACH PREKI

On the match:
"We started well, we got ourselves a goal and you were sensing [that at] any moment we were going to score the second. For a second, we just fell asleep, gave up a free kick and the game was tied 1-1. In the second half, there were all kind of changes, we changed the system a little bit, we changed the players a little bit. Once again they get a set piece and they get a goal. I give credit to our guys, I think we responded pretty good and we increased the tempo and got ourselves a goal."

On what the team can learn from the game:
"[What] we can learn from this game is there's no easy games, even with teams that are out of the playoffs. I don't think we took them lightly tonight, but ... for whatever reason, the game against New York and the game against San Jose might haunt us in the end in the standings."

On the team's outlook going into the next two games:
"We keep pushing. We dropped the points, but we certainly went for it. We created many chances. I felt we dominated on that side, but we don't put the ball in the net. You're not always going to rely on defense to bail you out with zero goals against. Sometimes there's going to be a night are games where you can score three or four goals, and that's been hard for us this year."

CHIVAS USA DEFENDER JONATHAN BORNSTEIN

On the game:
"I thought we started the game off really well. We get an early goal, and we were controlling the game and then they got a free kick that they score on and it was just kind of out of the blue. I don't think they were getting much of the run of the play up to that point. I think we got a little careless with the ball, started giving it away. But we came out in the second half, put a good effort on the field. Every single person that stepped on the field gave it all they had. In the end, another set piece goal that they get. We could have probably scored two or three more that we should have won the game with."

On playing central defense:
"It's a little different than outside, you have a little bit less attack going on in the game, but it's also taught me a lot about defensive positioning, getting myself in a good spot prior to plays breaking down and coming down the field. So it's good for me that I'm learning that."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES HEAD COACH FRANK YALLOP

On the match:
"I thought we well deserved a point. We had chances, so did they obviously, but it's come to a place like this [where] it's difficult to get a result. To score two goals away from home is very good."

On the team's recent results:
"We had some disjointed play early in the season ... we never got going. It was frustrating. We're keeping this group together for next season and adding to it. So I feel good that we should start the season a lot better than we did this season. But we're on a good run."

On the play of goalkeeper Andrew Weber:
"Andrew did well, he made some good saves. He had a good save early down to his left. The one late on Braun's game-winner -- Braun's clean through, Andy comes off his line bravely and makes the save. A good performance, he's had two games and he's unbeaten in the two games he's had, so he did well."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES FORWARD RYAN JOHNSON

On his recent scoring streak:
"I'm just trying to stay consistent. That's one of the hardest things to do, especially as a goalscorer. I'm just trying to take my chances when they come."

On the team's hard work:
"That's the attitude that we have. We're a team that doesn't give up, and we're trying to get better as a team. We're a young team, we're trying to learn and trying to learn how to manage games and we did a good job of gaining the lead after a little bit of a slow start, but it's just a learning process for us."

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES GOALKEEPER ANDREW WEBER

On the number of saves he made:
"Towards the end they pushed numbers forward. They were just coming, I think we managed it pretty well. Our guys fought hard coming back on defense. I thought we did pretty well to handle it."

On if he's disappointed with the result after the team gave up the lead:
"I wouldn't say disappointed. I thought this was a game we could've won. On the cross I think I was a little deep on my line. Maybe he would've been offside, I don't know, I thought he was a little bit ... but I think the result, 2-2, is a good result for us."
