Outlook: After helping transform the Quakes attack late in the season in 2008, Alvarez figures to be a key component to San Jose's offense in 2009. He scored in his debut with the Quakes against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Aug. 3 and did not look back. His combined six goals and six assists were both career highs for the creative left-footer. Able to play up top or anywhere in the midfield, Alvarez also provides some versatility for San Jose. In his second tour of duty with San Jose, Alvarez continues to improve and 2009 could be another big step forward for the Houston product.
